The Resource Conservationist I position is comprised of an Erosion & Sedimentation/Post Construction Stormwater specialty as detailed below:

  • The Erosion and Sedimentation Resource Conservationist I reviews earthmoving plans for compliance with the Clean Streams Law, Chapter 102, Erosion and Sediment Control and Post Construction Stormwater.  This position will also inspect open sites for compliance to these regulations and resolve complaints.
The person chosen for this position is responsible for fulfilling the District’s obligations under the Chapter 102 Delegation Agreement with PADEP. The District has a very active and progressive Erosion & Sediment Control (E&SC) and Post Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) Program. There are approximately 600 active NPDES permitted construction sites and over half of the watersheds in the County are designated Special Protection Watersheds. The competent person selected for this position will have the ability to review E&SC and PCSM Plans, inspect permitted sites for compliance to Chapter 102, seek voluntary compliance resolutions for violations, and prepare documentation for enforcement proceedings if necessary. The position also has responsibilities for complaint investigation, NPDES program implementation, and environmental education. The applicant should have a working knowledge of E&SC and PCSM Best Management Practices (BMPs).

Conservation District staff have the option to work from home, therefore they must be able to work independently. Ideal candidates will be familiar with Practice Keeper or similar web-based databases.

The competent person filling this position will hold a Baccalaureate Degree with major course emphasis in Environmental Resource Management, Civil or Agricultural Engineering, Geography and Planning or other related natural sciences. The person must be computer literate and have 2 years related experience or the equivalent.
The position requires approximately 50% of the time be spent in the field in inclement weather and on rough terrain. Candidates should be self-starters and team players.
