- Position Summary

This bargaining unit supervisory position is responsible for ensuring workers, including but not limited to full-time co-workers, part- time seasonal employees, ARD, out mates, volunteers, and equipment and materials are used properly, effectively, and efficiently to maximize productivity. Performs varied, semi-skilled and craft-skilled duties such as masonry, plumbing, etc. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather. This position is considered an essential employee as the department supports County
operations.
Hours of Work:
7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday
6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Every Sunday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
- Demonstrate knowledge in a variety of trades, including but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and concrete
- Ability to operate various motorized equipment, such as, tractors, mowing equipment, skid steer, lift truck and general motorized equipment
- Ability to operate snow removal equipment and application of anti-icing materials
- Demonstrate knowledge of different types of hand tools,power tools and meters
- Operate equipment, machinery, vehicles and tools per manufacturers specifications
- Oversees the correct set up of equipment, machinery, vehicles and tools
- Responsible for expensive and complex equipment and systems
- Train new workers, as assigned
- Ensures the existence of a safe work environment
- Ability to perform, assist and cooperate with vendors, subcontractors, engineers, inspectors in whatever project involving shared resources
- Schedules or performs repairs
- Oversees work reports, complete work reports and worker records
- Assist in inventory control and keep track of materials used
- Set examples for good attendance, starting time, wear seat belts, pick up litter, leave job site neat and safe and break/lunch periods are not abused
- Ability to obtain project needs for project completion
- Follow manufacturers' recommendations relating to operation manuals and safety manuals
- Report any problems and discuss possible solutions
- Oversee job site security, as well as assigned resources
- Report all accidents and incidents directly to Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent, immediately
- Trouble shoot work areas and job assignments for efficiency and effectiveness
- Practice preventive and predictive maintenance, at all times
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner and be aware of surroundings with public nearby
- Required to complete assigned training (Pesticide certification, CPR, 1st Aid)
- Possess a valid PA driver's license
- Other duties, as assigned
Essential Requirements
-
Must possess a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of two years in a supervisory
role and demonstrate hands on experience in property maintenance and grounds care.
