Perry CountyPerry County Conservation District is seeking a Conservation District Director. This position is responsible to promote and implement various natural resource conservation programs in Perry County serving as both the Department Head of the Conservation Department and as Conservation District Manager directed by the Perry Conservation District Board of Directors. Primary responsibilities are managing staff and providing functional, administrative and technical support to the Conservation District Board.
Primary duties include:
1. Bachelor’s Degree, 3-5 years of related experience, supervisory experience, or 3-5
years of related experience, or equivalent combination of training, education, and/or experience.
2. A working knowledge of natural resource conservation Best Management Practices.
3. A working knowledge of financial record keeping practices, grant administration and budgeting.
Compensation includes a starting salary of $ 29.97/hour with consideration for relevant experience. Primary duties include:
- Serve as executive assistant to the Perry County Conservation District Board. Carrying out all policies, decisions and assignments of the Board of Directors to promote the District’s Mission and informing and advising the Board in natural resource conservation program development and implementation. Responsible for agenda preparation, developing proposals, presenting action items, and reporting activities at monthly Conservation District Board and/ or Conservation District Board committee meetings.
- Oversee District financial functions including payment of bills, receivables, and annual audit. Actively pursue funding from various sources including government grants, sales and fees for services to support the mission.
- Prepare and implement annual budget and monitor and track all revenue and expenses for general operations, program contracts and agreements and other miscellaneous environmental grants and programs.
- Oversee broad administrative functions of the Conservation District office including securing and fulfilling various grants; contracts, delegation agreements, State reporting requirements, and ensuring fulfillment of other Board specific functions such as meeting minutes, records retention oversight, and legal compliance needs.
- Supervise staff as outlined in the District’s Personnel Policy. Coordinate and provide for staff development and training. Support encourage staff in their program responsibilities
