Dauphin County Conservation District is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Agricultural Specialist. An employee in this position will educate and assist the agricultural community in the area of farm conservation and nutrient management planning, ensuring members of the agricultural community understand the purpose and importance of implementing conservation practices that protect and enhance our soil and water resources. He/she is responsible for the following duties:
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in agriculture, civil engineering or a related natural resource field is required, or an appropriate amount of practical related experience as required to develop a technical knowledge of this work. A minimum of 2 years' working experience in the field of public or private soil conservation is required.
It is preferred that the candidate has PA Act 38 Nutrient Management Certification and PA National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Conservation Planner Certification or equivalent experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Computer training, a valid driver's license and positive driving record, and a favorable background check are required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
An excellent Dauphin County (County) paid benefit package is available to all full-time employees the month following 60 days of employment. The County pays 100% of the premium for the following:

- Promoting and administering farm management of water and soil resources
- Promoting and administering financial assistance programs in a fair and equitable manner
- Preparing and monitoring landowner contracts with accuracy and attention to detail
- Reviewing and developing farm conservation plans and Nutrient Management Plans
