Program Specialist 1- Mentoring Specialist

The County of Adams Children & Youth department is looking for just the right person to join our team who has will help us build a mentoring program that is second to none! This person should have a passion for families and a creative mind to help us think outside the box to further develop our program. This position coordinates and monitors programming that provides mentoring services to current and former youth ages 13-21. This is a professional work of an administrative nature involving program development and planning, as well as recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers & mentors. This position is responsible for increasing awareness about the importance of mentoring and will be required to regularly communicate with the mentors and the youth and is expected to carry a caseload of approximately 25 -30 volunteers / matches. 

This is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Normal work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch. Due to the nature of this position, non-traditional hours may sometimes be required.

Minimum Qualifications: 

1. 2 years minimum of professional level experience in the field of children, youth, and families; and
2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including at least 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or related field

Clearances required to obtain prior to hire (see attachment for further explanation):

1. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 33)
2. Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check (Act 34)
3. FBI Criminal Background Check (Act 73)

Compensation: $21.84 per hour minimum to start
